Guntur Medical College dates to 1946 and is attached to the 1,552-bed Government General Hospital, alongside the Podila Prasad–GMCANA Super Speciality and Trauma Centre. Its library holds close to 28,000 books, more than 100 print journal subscriptions and over 100 e-journals. The government college has 250 MBBS seats.
